Care Guide

Aven Lore pieces are made to be worn, not babied. A few small habits will keep them looking right for years.

The Short Version

  • Wash cold, inside out.
  • Tumble dry low or hang dry.
  • No bleach. No fabric softener.
  • Iron on low if needed, never directly on prints or embroidery.

Cotton & Garment-Dyed Pieces

Most of our sweatshirts and tees are heavyweight cotton or garment-dyed. They soften with every wash.

  • Turn the piece inside out before washing. This protects prints, embroidery, and surface texture.
  • Wash cold on a gentle cycle with similar colors.
  • Tumble dry low, or lay flat to dry for the longest life.
  • Skip fabric softener — it coats the fibers and dulls the hand.

Heavyweight Hoodies (400 GSM and above)

These take longer to dry and benefit from gentle handling.

  • Cold wash, inside out.
  • Reshape while damp.
  • Hang dry on a wide hanger or lay flat. Avoid high heat in the dryer — it shortens the life of heavy cotton.

Silk Kimonos

Pure silk satin is a different animal. Treat it accordingly.

  • Dry clean only, or hand wash in cold water with a silk-safe detergent.
  • Do not wring or twist. Roll in a clean towel to press out water.
  • Hang dry away from direct sunlight.
  • Iron on the lowest silk setting, inside out, with a press cloth.

Polyester & Lounge Kimonos

  • Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle.
  • Tumble dry low or hang dry.
  • Iron on low if needed.

Embroidered & Printed Details

Always turn inside out before washing. Never iron directly on embroidery or prints. If you must press, use a press cloth and the lowest heat that works.

Storage

Fold heavyweight pieces rather than hanging them — the shoulders will hold their shape better. Hang silk kimonos on a padded hanger.
